The End of Summer Break is Right Around the Corner!

Well, August is right around the corner and for many that means the last month of Summer Break! For students this could be sad news. For any stay-at-home or work-from-home parents this news could be a relief! Either way, what are some ways to get the best out of the remaining time of summer break? And what are some tips for students to prepare for the return of school?

Summer Activities

We’re big fans of getting outside and exploring the world! While there’s still some summer left, be sure to schedule one last outdoors adventure. It doesn’t have to be some huge, out-of-state camping trip, because a real adventure is determined by your mindset! Many bookstores sell books on native flora and fauna. Picking up one relevant to your location can expand the scope of any outdoors trip. A simple hike can become a scavenger hunt for unique local plants and animals. After reading through the book you’ll most likely begin noticing things in the environment you never even thought of!

So often we can take the natural wildlife and plants in our own backyards for granted, believing that we need to venture thousands of miles away for a new ecological experience. However, the truth is that we’re just too accustomed to our everyday environment that we start to become blind to it. Taking a moment to learn more about it can really open our eyes back up and help us find adventure just outside the front door! Simply learning more about your local nature will elevate any hiking or camping trip you schedule for your family to close out summer!

Preparing for school

For many, school’s just around the corner. Re-adjusting to the school schedule can be tricky for some. Most likely, even with the responsibilities of summer jobs or summer reading, sleeping schedules have likely shifted. This can be one of the first shocks when returning to school for students and should be first on the list when getting ready.

Also, make sure your child double checks their upcoming school curriculum to make sure they didn’t miss any required summer reading or studies. Even the best students can end up procrastinating over summer. Best to check now while there’s still time to read that summer reading book!

However you plan to ride out the last days of summer break, we hope you have fun, learn something new, and stay safe! Be sure to stay hydrated and keep up with sunscreen when venturing outside in this wild Texas heat!
